Street Racing Update
This past Sunday, March 07, a highly coordinated event took place on Interstate I-225, in which hundreds of street racers shut down the interstate, causing significant delays. As part of this unsanctioned and illegal event, firearms were waved, fireworks discharged, and more.
If you live within earshot of a major roadway, this will come as no surprise for street racing is now a statewide issue, with police task forces working to address the growing problem from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs and beyond.
Recently, a street race turned deadly North of Denver with a multi-car crash, and while multiple arrests have recently been made the problem continues to be a difficult one to solve as race organizers harness the power of social media to rally hundreds of people and move events quickly to avoid capture.
Please join the upcoming Commander’s Meeting to discuss this important issue directly with Denver Police.
